Stewardship of Talents- Have Faith In Your Gifts
Connections Group Discussion Guide- Stewardship of Talents- Have Faith In Your Gifts
Scripture: Romans 12:1-9
THE BIG IDEA– Deepen your faith to deepen your impact.
As we began this study on managing this life a few weeks ago, we started right here in Romans 12. We are to give our lives to God as a sacrifice. We have one life to live, one shot to make it count. So we surrender our lives to God.
The impact of that approach to life is a raw honesty about our giftedness. We understand God has given us gifts, and yet we refuse to get arrogant because of it. In fact, we take a very sober view of ourselves- “in and of myself, I have no ability to change anything”. The only thing I have is access to God’s help through my faith.
Now, that truly is something magnificent. But, the awe and wonder is about God’s ability, not mine. HE gave me gifts. HE empowers those gifts. I MANAGE HIS GIFTS. I am a steward of the abilities and talents HE GAVE ME.
Paul gives me the secret for increasing the impact of those gifts. I am to focus on building my faith. When I focus on developing my faith GOD INCREASES HIS GIFT OF FAITH WHICH INCREASES THE POWER OF HIS GIFTS. Since faith itself is a gift from God, I have the ability to increase my impact without increasing my sense of arrogance.
Managing God’s gifts- talents, etc…- is a matter of deepening my faith. When I deepen my faith, I deepen my impact.
